For all the pregnant women dealing with thigh chafing in this ridiculous heat...

I mean, I experience thigh chafing regardless but being 8 months pregnant in this heat can bring it to a whole new level. I know it's probably been said on here before but in case anyone was suffering like me right now, and could not imagine wearing shorts under a dress because it is too damn warm to add even one more layer, try body glide! It's been working like a charm for weeks now. I apply it every morning and have not had a problem since!

Stay cool, everyone.

What is this thigh chaffing in heat in pregnancy? I was pregnant in Sub Saharan Africa and had no chaffing and I never heard of this.

Some people just have thighs that rub together and when it is warm and moist, will create a rash that can be quite painful. Probably depends on skin sensitivity as well. Nevertheless it is a thing. Warm weather and weight increases can exacerbate it hence why some people experience it for the first time while pregnant or why for some it gets worse in pregnancy.

Yes, I experienced this for the first time yesterday. Hint to the person who said she was pregnant is SSA and never experienced this: it only happens if you gain weight on your thighs so that they rub against each other when you walk.

It sounds kinda weird but once on vacation when I was pregnant and walking around in a skirt with that issue - the next day I wore a pair of my husband’s (clean) boxer briefs under my skirt. It was’nt hot and did the trick!

Oh, ok. I can sympathize. I get rash from the sun! And I do have eczema. My whole left arm is now in a rash bcs as I drive it is exposed to sun even with window up! If you are pregnant you should try and stay indoors for a few days, I think.

You should really use Google then. You can find a lot of information there ... Give it a try!

I used A&D ointment. Good luck... it was 105 the day my son was born and this heat is tough!

I'll excuse your biatchines if you are pregnant. Someone was nicer and replied.

Rub deodorant/antiperspirant between your thighs. Rub it all over.

You're welcome.

I won't excuse your ignorance, sorry. Be better next time. Just because something didn't happen to you doesn't mean it's not a thing.

Chafing is an issue for me in summer even without being pregnant—it’s just so much worse now at 28 weeks. (And pre-pregnancy I’m a size 6 with relatively lean legs but my thighs do touch in a dress/skirt and I have very, very sensitive skin that’s prone to rashes, chafing and scarring. It is what it is! People of all shapes and sizes face things that may not effect all people—that’s at you, Africa.)

Someone suggested the monistat anti chafing gel years ago and it works wonders. Rub it on thicker than you think is necessary and bring it in your bag if you’ll be out walking all day but otherwise it’s the only relief I’ve found short of wearing pants/longer shorts. (I’ve been told to wear bike shorts under dresses but that just sounds bulky.)
