When does your cycle become normal after failed IVF?

Had one failed IVF last month and after stopping progesterone my period arrived 4 days later. This month we are trying on our own and using the ovulation predictor kits. They have been negative for 6 days now, when I know this is normally when I ovulate. Did the meds mess up my cycle?

Can't do IVF again, too costly and insurance doesn't cover it.

My MD told me I should wait for 2 to 3 normal cycles before TTC after failed IVF...not that I couldn't 'try' but that waiting till then to 'focus try' was advised knowing how difficult it is to monitor month to month to month..... Best wishes.

I had several failed IVFs. Sometimes my cycle would be normal following the IVF and sometimes it would be longer -- i.e., 35 instead of 28 days. I think it mostly had to due with stress. Stress and/or illness can delay ovulation. Like the PP, my doc told me to wait out atleast one cycle before trying again -- mainly to let your ovaries settle down.

Thanks- I was able to conceive naturally 3 1/2 years ago and had hoped we wouldn't have to try IVF. I'm glad I tried but unfortunately it didn't work. We are thinking about IUI as the Dtr recommended that initially as an option. The price isn't too bad and the chances are better than a natural cycle. Might try it next month or the following.

I faced primary and secondary infertility- we did IVF for our second child.. we tried many many IUIs and then moved on- consider the insurance coverage- our medical was sufficient for IUIs (cheap) but only one IVF and medicine was the same amount for one IUI than one IVF- and that was killer.. so after four failed IUIs we went to IVF- the odds of course are better with IVF- we were told since we had been trying for over 9 months with 4 IUIS and naturally plus age that naturally we had 1% chance- IUI it was either 3 or 4%, IVF- 20% conservatively.. we were fortunate though our first IVF attempt was cancelled- the second worked and we have a healthy baby boy now..

1 month your cycle is normal. they usually recommend waiting a month before you try another cycle unless you are burned out or emotionally drained. then they ask you to wait 3 months.
