Anyone know of any volunteer opportunities for a 14 year old boy in NW DC?

My nephew from Italy is visiting us for a month this summer. We are looking for volunteer opportunities for a few hours a week to give him some perspective and appreciation. In years past, summers were all about fun and vacations, but now he needs to give back Any ideas?We live in NW DC. Thanks

You might also call a couple of middle or high schools, explain your situation, and ask for suggestions of where there students volunteer to complete their community service requirements to graduate. I'm not sure DC has this requirement but Mont. County does.
