| I realized no Fed Health Plans cover IVF. How goes it with Maryland mandates for IVF coverage? |
| My plan is 640 a month. But I saved tens of thousands on IVF, so it was worth it. |
| PP here. I just got private insurance bc I didn’t get any discounts on the exchange. |
What insurance? |
| Carefirst ... it’s that or Kaiser |
| I have the CareFirst Healthy Blue PPO. As a PP said, it costs about $660 month. But it covers three attempts (ie cycle culminating in a transfer) with a cap of 100k. |
| Is it possible to get that insurance through the exchange if you live in DC? |
I'm pretty sure your residence has to be in Maryland |
No, MD is an IVF mandated state. Only a handful in the country. |
| I’m a MD resident and have CareFirst HealthyBlue HMO Gold. I have a monthly premium of $437.45 with a $1750 annual deductible (my health savings offset a lot of the deductible). It covers 6 IUIs and 3 IVF attempts with a lifetime max of 100k. For IVF meds, I was only responsible for paying $550, everything else was covered. |
How do you like the HMO? I went with the PPO because of the specialist referral requirement but kind of wish I had gone with the HMO. |
I have no complaints about the HMO (especially since CareFirst has a large network of providers). I must pay $30 per visit to see a specialist, but I don’t need a referral. |
Bummer, for some reason I thought you needed a referral. I totally would have done the HMO! |
For individual and family plans you don’t need a referral, but if you have CareFirst through an employer, you may need to check. |
I went with the PPO because I knew I might want to cycle at CCRM or Cornell out of state. Don’t think you can do that with the HMO. |
