Who on earth is this Kofi Annan fool? There are shootings in Fairfax County that the police shared with the local community appear to be gang-related, and he’s criticizing them for allegedly stigmatizing black males by using the word “gangs”? WTF?
I remember a time when the NAACP picked battles that mattered; this dude is making them seem foolish and irrelevant. Why wouldn’t a community with a significant AA population want to know everything the police can share about shootings in their community? https://www.wusa9.com/amp/article/news/local/virginia/naacp-criticizes-fairfax-co-police-over-gang-label-for-recent-shootings/65-6cb5826f-0d43-49c8-b576-1fe27efb1ef2 |
| Political correctness run amok. |
| Wow. I am liberal, but this strikes me as over the top. A lot of gangs have loose structures, but if something is gang-related then the police should say it. |
| If it’s not gang related why say it is? |
Because the police chief said he had specific information that it was gang related. |
| Kofi Annan? His parents had a sense of humor. |
My first reaction was - what does Kofi Annan have to do with Fairfax?! |
He’d changed his name. And he just quit his NAACP position. He got into a nasty spat with his predecessor, cursing her out and accusing her of being a tool of white people. Ugly stuff. |
|
I think the police know more about whether this was or was not gang related than this dude with the borrowed name.

Glad he quit. Sounds like he was more of an inciter than a person trying to get things done. He also called her the "n" word. Classy guy. |
