Stop ruining new homes or rehabbed homes by putting wall to wall carpeting in rooms please. Younger people looking to buy homes hate carpeting these days, and carpeting makes very little practical sense given how hard it is to clean it, how well they hang on to dust/mites/dirt/allergens, and if you spill anything on them they can get stained and you're screwed. Quit putting carpeting into homes, because no one wants it. Thanks!

| You gonna pay an extra 200k for all hardwood |
No way. Do you have an extra zero on there? |
It helps with soundproofing, cold feet, and slip & falls. |
NP just use area rugs |
You can get all that with area rugs, which are much easier to clean/replace. |
| Sometimes there is a good reason, like a kids playroom that has a concrete subfloor. But regardless, why do you care? Just rip it out and replace it. |
| You know people actually have to live in houses before they sell them, right? Not everyone wants or has the time to specifically tailor their home to buyers' specifications. And frankly that shouldn't be an expectation. It should be reasonably updated, yes (or priced commensurately). Outfitted with a specific type of flooring, no. |
| We rent a house with carpet on the 2nd and 3rd floor. It was not what I wished for. Our previous house was entirely hardwood. It took an adjustment but carpet can work. We have never ever worn shoes upstairs. The carpets are still brand new looking 3 years on. I rarely even have to vacuum. They were brand new when we moved in. |
You do have to vacuum. Just because you can’t see anything doesn’t mean you don’t need to vaccinate. Gross. |
| *vacuum |

You NEED to vacuum. Even if you don't see it, there's a ton of dust, skin particles, etc. in the carpet. Use a vacuum like the cordless Dyson and you'll see exactly what gets vacuumed up -- trust me, it'll make you want to vacuum every other day.
That said, I love carpet in the bedroom. With good padding underneath it, it's soft, warm, and cozy. So you don't speak for everyone, OP. |
| You need to pay |

I love the way carpet feels on my (bare) feet. Soft. Area carpets just don't do it for me.
Hardwoods seem so cold, staged, and trying too hard to be linear. |
| I just got a quote from Lowes for a rug versus engineered wood and it was 900$ versus 2000$. |
