The Water Mine Family Swimmin' Hole - Lake Fairfax

Anyone been? Is it suitable for toddlers or mostly older kids?

Don't bother.

My son loves it. He goes with his camp and is actually attending a full week camp at the Water Mine. He is 7 and started going at 6. I have never actually been because he has gone with camp. But he loves it.

If your kid isn't getting in with a camp, on the weekdays you will have to wait in a long line and it is often closed until people exit.

If its the weekend, you have to get there really early to get in line to get admitted.

But is it fun?!

My 7 YO thinks it is fun and the long lines to get in suggest that he is not the only one.

Word of advice: reserve a spot in advance. So much easier that trying to find a few chairs together. Worth the price for an afternoon.

My kids used to go there weekly with camp and now work there. It’s a nice water park, but can get crowded with camps using the week. As others have said, get there early. Or go in the evening.

Totally disagree. We bought a deal on certified and went at the end of June. Go when they open at 10 and leave at 2 and you’ll have no problems. I was highly impressed by the lifeguards and loved that you can bring your own food. Tons of positive reviews on TripAdvisor.

There's also Pirate's Cove at Pohick Bay. By kid loves that one. Like all the others, you have to go early because it fills up. But there were plenty of chairs and the pools are so big they don't feel crowded.

It is so fun! I took my 4 year old yesterday and we stayed from 10:15 until 6:45 at night. It was a blast. Lots of options for different age groups. Certified has a deal on weekday admissions now. Pack your lunch and lots of snacks to save cash. I would suggest to go on a weekday if possible.

+1 We took our kids last year (2 and 4 at the time) and we all had a great time. We got there early and left after lunch.

As long as you remember to read the fine print and note that it's only on certain days. Not that I ever made that mistake or anything...
