Trading in Luxury Car for Cheaper Vehicle

Anonymous
I have a high end car that I purchased on a whim six years ago when I cashed out some options. It’s still in good shape and drives well, but I’ve started to feel like I’d be more comfortable with a more basic vehicle that generally might be considered less ostentatious.

Have others done this and, if so, were you happy with the decision?

Define "high end" and "basic". Six year old luxury car probably feels pretty dated now compared to a new 2020 practical car with decent options. New feels so much tighter, smells better, everything is crisp, and the paint is so shiny.

I’d dump the luxury car before you lose any more in depreciation. At 6 years old, it’s value is about to fall completely off a cliff, especially if it’s approaching a major service interval.

You know why early 2000’s Benz S-600’s can be had for $10k now, when they originally cost $130k new in 2004?

Because they need $30’ worth of maintenance work now in 2019

Get out.

Not true at all. I went from old used banged up Japanese to new one and can't tell the difference at all. Waste of money.
