I have a high end car that I purchased on a whim six years ago when I cashed out some options. It’s still in good shape and drives well, but I’ve started to feel like I’d be more comfortable with a more basic vehicle that generally might be considered less ostentatious.
Have others done this and, if so, were you happy with the decision? |
| Define "high end" and "basic". Six year old luxury car probably feels pretty dated now compared to a new 2020 practical car with decent options. New feels so much tighter, smells better, everything is crisp, and the paint is so shiny. |

I’d dump the luxury car before you lose any more in depreciation. At 6 years old, it’s value is about to fall completely off a cliff, especially if it’s approaching a major service interval.
You know why early 2000’s Benz S-600’s can be had for $10k now, when they originally cost $130k new in 2004? Because they need $30’ worth of maintenance work now in 2019 Get out. |
Not true at all. I went from old used banged up Japanese to new one and can't tell the difference at all. Waste of money. |
