Really? It looks like most of the addition is where the trailers are now, so it doesn't seem to me that much play space will be lost, if any. |
Take another look at the drawings. Looks like most of the playground space near 42nd street will be used for the new building and most of the top playground looks like it will become a soccer field. There is a tiny play areas between the old and new building that looks like it will be enclosed and one where the current basket ball courts are. Not clear from the drawing where the playground equipment (monkey bars/slides etc) will go. |
I had the same reaction (re minimal playground space). I wonder if the new soccer field (instead of swings/monkey bars) depicted is there to enable a future land grab wrt the old soccer field. Imagine what the school would have been like with an apartment building there. Eek! |
