How did you build up a supply of milk in the freezer without causing engorgement? My 3 month old tested positive for milk protein and now I can't feed her the milk I did have in the freezer. Any tips on quickly building up a new supply? Is it possible?
Why do you want to build a stash of milk if she can't drink the milk? Personally I think building a stash a watse of time. I don't feel comfortable freezing plastic bags myself.
OP, I would start pumping after each feeding 3-4 times a day and try to increase output so that it exceeds the baby's needs by 5-7oz per day. You could also try to do this by adding a pump in the morning hours. Once your output is increased, it will take 4-5 days to save enough milk for a full day (25 oz or so).
I don’t really think there are many benefits to drinking defrosted bagged frozen milk, if you have a lipase problem it stinks too and baby might not take it
Order the haakaa off Amazon. I've never pumped and have 350oz in my freezer just from that. You suction it to the opposite boob while you nurse and it catches your let down milk. I get 1-2oz per feeding.
Just wanted to say, you should look in to donating your existing stash, if you haven’t already.
I have EP for 3 kids and stopped around 2-3 months each time because it was a lot of work and I needed to travel/work/ etc. I was always able to freeze enough to make sure each baby had enough breast milk for 3-4 feedings a day for another 2-3 months. So basically while I only pumped for 2-3 months, my kids alll had bm for 5-6 months. I pumped a lot though and filled two freezers with each baby. I have no clue if there was any added benefit to be honest, but during my maternity leave I was able to do it so I did. I used a medela hospital grade pump (rented from the hospital) and pumped 5-6 times a day for 30-45 minutes each time... yes, it’s a lot but that made sure my breasts were completely empty and it increased my supply. I prefer that than pumping 20 minutes 8 times a day.

Hakaa
And also if baby is sleeping for longer stretches do a pumping session in between. My 3.5 month old sleeps 7-7 so I pump at 9/10 pm before I go to bed and freeze that |
