Forrester vs Crosstrek

Anonymous
DH is going car shopping this weekend and wants a Subaru. Any firsthand experiences with either of these vehicles? Outback is too station wagon-y for his taste, and he doesn't want the full Ascent SUV.

Anecdotally anyone prefer one or the other if you've owned them or test driven?

Crosstrek is much smaller. Usually people decide btw the Forester and Outback because they're more similar. We have a Forester and love it. We also didn't like how stain wagony the Outback is.

The station wagon look was why we eliminated the outback. We were torn between the Crosstrek and Forester and it came down to height. I was ok with either (5’7”) but 6’3” DH was uncomfortable in the Crosstrek. We went with the Forester and I love it. We’ve had it for 4 years now and I don’t regret it for a second.

We bought a crosstrek last year and really like it but there is very little trunk space so it’s not great for trips (though our family of 3 can jam everything in.) I am a car person and dislike driving an SUV. Friends who have foresters do love them though. We will probably get an outback for our next car. I rented one on vacation and loved it.

I have a new forester and love it. It is spacious (my 6’4” husband is comfortable in it), easy to drive and has a good amount of trunk space. When I carpool, three kids are comfortable in the back.

Re the Crosstrek being smaller, it's exactly the Impreza but with higher clearance.

True, drives and parks like a car which is nice in some neighborhoods

I hate the wheels on the Crosstrek, I am sure some love them but it kept me from buying one.
