Hi everyone, So, I've gained 1 2pounds in 21 weeks I feel like a whale and out of breath all the time. surprisingly I can't work over my low pressure and constant lower pain pressure so this pregnancy has been a little torture for me. Would love to compare weight gain thru pregnancy
Thank you |
| So if you gained 1 lb per week (normal) for the remainder of your pregnancy you would still be <35 lbs. Seems like you are right on track for healthy weight gain. |
| That seems pretty low. I gained a pound a week. Don’t worry, it will get much worse just take it easy. |
+1 Sounds like a perfectly fine weight gain. |

OP here,
Thank you for the answers... I had weight problems before and this pregnancy is making me feel depressed every time I weight myself. I'm constantly hungry I think I will just add more protein and more veggies +water. Paranoid over gaining more than I should and in the same time making sure baby is healthy. thank you again . |
| Don't weigh yourself. Don't look when they weigh you at appointments. Eat normally and you will be fine. You're growing a baby. Now is not the time to be vain. |
| I’ve gained 16 lbs at 17 weeks! But I’m on track to gain exactly the same as I did with my other two pregnancies, and with both I lost the weight with no extra effort in about 9 months. So, I know it’s hard (i hate feeling huge) but don’t stress about it, you’re doing fine! |
| I'm up 28 pounds and only 26 weeks pregnant! You are fine!! Stop weighing yourself especially after meals. It's ok to gain weight. Well, atleast that's what by OB tells me. |
| I'll tell.you what I wish someone had told me, "SLOW DOWN". Women in France aim to gain 10-15 lbs for the entire pregnancy. |
That’s not healthy. Women in this country also used to be told that in the 50s and their doctors encouraged them to smoke to curb their appetite. Should we be doing that too? |
Everyone is an individual. A lot of weight gain is your genetics. Comparing yourself to others is a useless exercise. Work on your self esteem and body image issues. Eat healthfully, in moderation, and stop weighing yourself. |
| It's normal to gain weight during pregnancy and there's no reason to feel bad about it! A big portion of it is your growing baby, placenta, amniotic fluid, increased blood volume, etc. |
| Honestly, it depends on how much you weighed before pregnancy. Were you over weight? Under? Normal? Do you exercise? All those things play a factor in a healthy pregnancy |
Yes, but the range is not 20-70 pounds. I am all for empowering women and healthy body image, but nobody is having 30 pound babies. By normalizing excessive weight gain you set people up for 1) potential complications and 2) difficulties going to pre-pregnancy weight. Neither is kind or empowering for women. |

I’m 23 weeks with #2 and have gained 6 lbs—BUT my starting weight was also 15 lbs heavier than with #1. I’m not doing anything different this time around, I was just carrying more weight to begin with so don’t need to gain nearly as much. If I were you’d I’d only be concerned if you were particularly overweight to begin with—otherwise this is probably just what your body needs to grow another human. Don’t stress it.
I’ll add that I wasn’t thrilled to stay chubby while I breastfed but also didn’t bust my ass getting back in shape since I knew we’d have a second and conceived 2 months after weaning. While I look forward to (hopefully) getting close to my old body back after this baby I’m also going to miss the “eat the cupcakes” phase. Enjoy it. |
