I Wish Hillary was President

Liked her then (Primaries), missing her now. I don't think we would have seen a lot of these amateur screw ups from her (and hopefully Bill learned his lesson).

She's the Sec'y of State - it's not like she's not on the scene. And, oh, she did so well with health care the first time around. Seriously, really?

Which amateur screw ups?

The only amateur screw up I see here is OP's failure to use the (volitional) subjunctive in the title.

Oh come on Jeff! I'm as much of a dem as you and voted for Obama, but this has been one embarrassment after another. Which screw ups? I'm not about to get into a debate with you because you'll win, you always do, I've seen enough on this site to know that. But just a quick google of Obama and screw up had OBAMA saying he screwed up so don't act like you have no idea what the heck I could possibly be referring to.

Or how about this from the Post?

Or getting involved in the Olympics decision? Or bowing to the Emperor in Japan? A war with Fox News (should have ignored them.) There I went and did it.... now pick those examples apart

So you pick two op eds written by two republicans less than one month of president obama's tenure as your proof. i bet your first two weeks in a new job has always been flawless as well. i bet you are smart enough to know that both clinton and bush had nominees that had problems and thus dropped out of the process. of course, you do know that don't you. you also know that president obama has not been the only president in american history to pay respect to other dignitary's customs and bow. just google eisenhower and his bow. as for the olympics, well had he been successful in bringing those millions of dollars to a financially crippling state and country (IL and USA) I would venture you would be singing a different tune. Finally, Obama is not at war with FOX news, he is ignoring FOX news. Did you have the same issue when Bush ignored MSNBC.

You have got to be kidding me? Of course I'm going to win the debate if this is the level of opposition you are going to present. The MSNBC article is from February 03, 2009. The Washington Post article is from February 11, 2009. Obama was only inaugurated on January 20th. Are you seriously trying to judge is entire term by articles (one by a Republican pundit) written less than a month into his administration?

Just because you don't agree with something does not make it a screw up. The leader of every country campaigning for the Olympics was involved. Obama is from Chicago. Why shouldn't he have gotten involved? Again, even if you don't think he should have, it just means you disagree with his actions. It doesn't make it a screw up. Bowing to the Emperor of Japan? Again, are you kidding me? Earlier Presidents (Nixon and first Bush) have bowed to the Emperor, and Bush II practically made out with the King of Saudi Arabia. Fox News, again, maybe you didn't agree with it but that doesn't make it screw up. Fox is not a legitimate news organization and shouldn't be treated as one.

If you are a Hillary supporter, do you believe that she received the same sort of media treatment when she was first lady as Bush did when he was president? I remember that time and recall a failed land deal in Arkansas being turned into a federal investigation that led to the impeachment of the President (for lying about a blow job). Compare that to how the media was nothing but an enabler for the Bush administration. We are back to "Clinton Rules" by the media. So, not matter what Obama does, it will be portrayed in a bad light. Just read about his trip to Asia. You probably don't know anything about that trip except that he bowed. Yet, it has yielded huge dividends already. Those successes just haven't been covered (yet the Post deployed seven reporters and two researchers to cover the Salahis).

He has not, to my knowledge, told the press he entered a country under hail of sniper fire and then had to explain how he misremembered it.
He has never disparaged baking cookies. Nor has he had to then bake cookies in order to regain the trust of a segment of the U.S. electorate.
He has never had to distance himself from Tammy Wynette.
He has yet to compare the fairness of our elections to that of Nigeria.
He has not (yet) totally flamed out on health care reform.

Then there is this criticism of her tenure from the New Republic: http://www.tnr.com/article/politics/reset-button?page=0,0 , which include her openly speculating to the press about whether Kim Il Jung will be replaced and calling North Korea an "unruly teenager", her statement to the press about Chinese Human rights violations, and some confusing messages to Israel and Palestine regarding U.S. policy on settlements.

I personally like Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. But neither is by any stretch perfect, and they both make their share of mistakes. If Hillary's aren't obvious, maybe it's because her job is foreign policy and that does not get much press attention these days. But she makes her share of gaffes.

In case you think I'm picking on her, I can drum up the same list of stupid statements for any national politician of your liking. If you pick Bush or Reagan, however, I will just send you the links to the relevant books at Barnes and Noble just to save time

One little addition to the discussion: I think it's unfair to take the fact that the Pres was willing to straightforwardly say "I screwed up" rather than something like "mistakes were made" and turn it into an indictment.

Heh. I'm glad that still grates on someone's ears besides my own.

IMHO Hilary is a tool. Elin Woods has more backbone. Both have resources so no whiny I need to stay for finances - Hilary stayed for status.
