I really wish I had long skinny legs

Anonymous
No matter what I do, I am thicker in the legs. I am tall, nearly 5'9 and slim in the waist, tummy etc. I have a decent chest but feel like it all is lost from the waist down. Makes me crazy and I totally admit to envying women who have great legs. Especially as I get older and the "legs are the last too go" for many women my age. Just a rant/vent I guess.

I wish I had a flat stomach.

Just remember that everyone has their own body image issues.

I have had leg fat since like, 5th grade. And I am very small everywhere else. Just lost 10 pounds, am back to pre-pg weight, and it was all my arms and boobs. I am sick to death of this shit. What can I do to lose the thigh fat???

I have breasts that look like pita chips.

22:09, ha! me too. I have the legs the OP wants. Can I trade them for perfect skin and curves?!

I believe it is called being pear-shaped. Whatever exercice/diet I do, the pear shape is always there. But hurray for weight-lifting and general fat-loss/muscle building: round firm thighs are SO attractive compared to flabby cellulite-ridden thighs, even though the actual diameter is the same! So I make sure to target those problem areas by doing more squats, butt lifts, kicks, etc... Oxygen magazine really helped me work out a reasonable diet and exercise plan.

BTW, whenever I find myself worrying about my body esthetics, it means life is good and I am lucky not to have any more pressing worries

OP here. Good points. Not familiar with Oxygen magazine, will check it out.

22:14 here.
Don't be put off by the competition-level muscle women and suspect supplements ads in the magazine - I do half or less of any exercise or diet they advocate, and it works for me.
The point is that this mag targets a population of serious lady muscle-builders and therefore has fine-tuned fat elimination and muscling exercises into evidence-based logical steps. This is not the case for pseudo-fitness mags like Shape aimed at a less committed crowd - I found they were less organized and sometimes did not recommend the right kind of exercise for a given problem (such as doing ab-work to reduce stomach fat).

And no saddle bags!

I am a tubbalard. Long skinny legs would look rather out of place on my body, at this point.

But I am going to start the Biggest Loser for Wii this weekend. Wish me luck.

Ok, I know the OP wasn't asking for advice necessarily on how to get long skinny legs, but I'll throw this out there anyway. I am also pear shaped, and even with running and yoga and weight lifting my legs were always chunky. I've started doing a DVD of the Barre workout (search it on Amazon, there are several) and it's really done a lot to sort of slim out my legs. I'll never be mistaken for a model but I'm feeling much better about them so it's worth it.
