We're having our annual christmas party next week and I usually make about 10 different items. I usually add 2 new ones and delete 2- any terrific easy ideas? I'm looking for something to bake or prepare ahead and serve so I'm not tied to the oven for hours.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions... |

I'm sorry. You make ten different items? Seriously?
I highly recommend going to costco or trader joe's and get a huge container of hummus and a bag of carrots. Serve in a pretty bowl/platter. Come on over to the dark side. It's nice and laid back here. |
| I would also love some easy appetizer recipes. Anyone??? |
| If you have a crock pot, do some cocktail meatballs. There was a post a few weeks ago where people posted their favorite recipes (maybe just do a search for "meatballs"). |

press some slices of bread without the board then you put whatever you like as chicken pate tuna pate... whatever... if you want to keep it could I would make it with chicken pate and pieces of carrots to be colorful . after you put what you want roll them as a sushi and cut in a half and put in the fridge for at least 10 min. serve cold.
if you want to baked you can do with some chesse and herbs and tomatos then you back a little bit. I do that for my son as snacks to bring to school. the cold ones http://images.google.com.br/imgres?imgurl=http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_aix9k2-hHok/SmTsL4sLSEI/AAAAAAAAEFk/WtkJoBk7zR8/s320/Rolinhos%2Bde%2Bpizza.JPG&imgrefurl=http://cafezinhodascinco.blogspot.com/2009/07/pao-enrolado-com-sabor-de-pizza.html&usg=__rFOR__0cKiPRl9_RREVC1jcIPk4=&h=320&w=320&sz=26&hl=pt-BR&start=15&sig2=WGZdR4R1bM96yBgBvZMy_w&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=4uLS9FEWXwM_AM:&tbnh=118&tbnw=118&prev=/images%3Fq%3Drolinhos%2Bde%2Bpao%26hl%3Dpt-BR%26sa%3DN%26um%3D1&ei=ZREXS5vmHI7aNvup0O8E pic of the baked one |

a different one but kind of tropical... |
| I just saw a nice easy recipe for layers of manchego alternated with quince paste, then cut into little pieces. I'm going to try it this weekend! |
| Guacamole: Mash together a couple of ripe acocados. Stir in a little chopped tomatoes and a little chopped onion. Add a pinch of garlic powder. Squeeze a whole lime in (or lemon if you don't have a lime). Shake a LOT of salt in to taste. Serve with chips. |
| Hey, OP, what do you usually make? What quantities? How long does it all take? I love the idea of a big party, but the preparation is intimidating. |

I've made these:

| Spinach artichoke dip is very easy and can be made ahead of time and just reheated...there are tons of recipes online. |
| hint on guac--make sure you scoop out the inside of tomato as all the juice makes for runny guac. |

My two faves:
sliced baguette with goat cheese and fig spread. YUMMY! puff pastry rolled into pinwheels with prosciutto and grated gruyere (and sage) in the middle. You can make it (and chill) up to 3 days early, then you slice and cook for 10min at 400. It's really great when you want to serve something warm but don't have a lot of time or oven space. |
