Cooper 36
Jackson 22
Frost 18
Kilmer 18
Lake Braddock 18

Wow, Kilmer’s numbers really went down after the Langley kids returned to Cooper.

Kilmer sucks and greatschools score proves it

Rocky Run acceptances will also decline after Lanier AAP kids start applying to TJ.

Thoreau?

Do you have the Applied numbers as well? Without them this isn't meaningful.

Great Schools scores never prove anything aside from how gullible some people are.

I wouldn’t expect that number to be high at all. The same rationale and preferences that would make a student choose TMS over Luther Jackson are the same reasons they would decide to attend their local HS over TJ.

I only know a few kids that I know would be close to having a chance at getting into TJ and none of them applied, as TJ wasn’t a fit for their family and goals. These kids’ specific reasons given were their sport, neighborhood friends, and siblings.

Agree. Those kids go to LJ.

What a stupid thing to say.

Not at all stupid! If 81/100 got in then that’s an 81% acceptance rate. If 70/70 got in then that is a 100% acceptance rate!

And if only 6 got in, but only six applied, that is also great, although it doesn't seem like it when you first see "6" (or * for less than 10).

That’s additional information but it doesn’t render the raw number of admits meaningless.

And no one is likely to trip over themselves to send their kid to an FCPS middle school where only six kids are applying to TJ.

Most people are not tripping over themselves to send their kid to a FCPS middle school to send their kid to TJ. DS goes to a school that feeds into Carson. I have yet to have a single friend/neighbor mention TJ down the line. A few discuss AAP but most are just chilling and working to make sure that their kid is doing well in ES and is healthy.

Maybe people are realistic. Maybe people are clueless. Maybe think the level of obsession over TJ for some families is crazy. No idea what it is but I do know that the only place I hear anyone discussing TJ is on this board.

And that includes my friends whose kids are taking Algebra 1 Honors in 7th grade.
