Do your older teens know how to do Laundry

Please tell me that Verizon commercial and it’s just a commercial.

I can’t believe that’s 18-19 year old heading to college have no idea on how to do laundry

I taught my DD to do her laundry around 4th or 5th grade, so around age 10 or 11.

The basic kind (put clothes in, press button), yes.

We started when they were in 7th and 9th grade. Hard for me to let go of some things (folded, clean laundry put away vs pile of clean clothes on the floor), but it is now their chore to do their own. I am happy to not have to do it any more!

My 4 boys did their own laundry starting in 6th grade.

I"m sure there are some kids who don't know how to do laundry. Perhaps the ones who have grown up with maids etc.

My son will turn 18 in a few weeks and is headed to college in several weeks. He has been doing his laundry since middle school.

Learned in middle school. I don't think he knows how to do delicates, but he doesn't own any.

Yes - both kids (teens) know how to do it and do it sometimes.

Lots of students didn't know when I started college. The RAs had how to meetings on how to do laundry the first week or two of school. I thought it was a joke until I saw all of the kids in the laundry room. What parent sends their kid to college without knowing how to do laundry?

I haven't seen the Verizon commercial, but my kids have been doing laundry since middle school. They actually seem to like doing it -- go figure.

Mine have all done their own for the most part by middle school. I might fold a load that's in the dryer to get it out of the way etc. but they do their own wash or at least the bulk of it.

My son is in 9th grade and starting to do his own now. My daughter wanted to do her own starting in 8th grade and has ever since.

Very basic kind.

I do more sorting, use different kinds of pre-treatment, different products, different cycles and different drying methods.

My DS started doing it when he was 8 and folding it when he was 10. I cannot imagine not teaching him how to do this. It's something you need to do for the rest of your life.
