Cap Women's Care - Lockwood office

Just wanted to throw out a good word for this practice, especially Drs. Berger-Weiss and Levitt. I didn't so much like Dr. Sommerville (not a good bedside manner), but the rest of the practice was great and I was so glad to have Dr. B-W deliver my baby. Anyone looking for an OB in Silver Spring ought to consider this practice.

I just switched to this office from GWU. Dr. Berger-Weiss is fantastic, the staff are much friendly, and I'm much happier!

I am a long-standing patient there (they delivered both of my children) and couldn't agree more. I love this practice!

I've read on these boards that this practice has at least a couple doctors that are open to a medication-free birth -- is that right?

Also, I just saw Sommerville for the first time a few weeks ago. His bedside manner is not what I expected (a little monotone and can seem a little disengaged, at first), but I had so many questions for him and he answered them all matter-of-factly (if monotone-ly). For instance, some doctors act like the risk of mercury is no big deal, like preg ladies are worried for nothing. Sommerville said something like "Well, mercury and lead are neurotoxins...," which was satisfying. I felt like he gave me very straightforward answers -- in line with what I'd been reading about, rather than making me feel like I was buying into paranoia. And when he talked about these things, it didn't feed paranoia, it just made me feel like he respected my intelligence enough to give me several sides of the issue.

Finally -- his voice reminded me of some actor's voice, but I couldn't place it. Anyone?

Maybe Ben Stein?

I had the same experience as PP-- I found Dr. Sommerville sort of off-putting at first because of his monotone-ness, but really quite liked him in the end. I found him knowledgeable, helpful, and he also took a concern of mine very seriously.
