Has your recent HS grad left for college yet?

DD just graduated HS a month ago. Surprised at how many of her friends have already left for college (sports, orientation, etc.).

Where have you dropped your kid off and how did it go?

The kids going for orientation are probably going for 1 to 2 days and coming back. Maybe some of her friends are starting during summer session?

My DS just graduated and none of his friends have left. He has orientation on Monday (just one day) but doesn't get dropped off for move-in until August 21 or 22.

One of DCs friends has left for summer session. DC goes to a 2 day orientation this week (and then returns until leaving for fall session in late/mid August)

DD traveled to her OOS public college for a 2-day orientation that all freshman attend. She will be playing a D1 winter sport and will move in end of August, just a few days before the rest. IDK when fall sports kids arrive. I would imagine it would be after the start of the academic year (July 1).

Nope. She doesn't move in until September 16th! It's way later than the rest of her friends, which all seem to be mid or late August. She moves in on the 16th, orientation is the week following, and then classes start on the 24th. But I know a lot of colleges do orientation where you come for a few days in June, and then go home, and then come back to move in in August. Are you sure that's not what your kid's friends are doing?

3rd week of August for my DD and DS.

My son moves in 10 days earlier than the rest of the freshmen for his fall sport (cross country). He's in on August 8th, the rest come on the 18th. He did fly out to his school for two days earlier this month for orientation, but he (obviously) came back and won't go back until move in.

No. Which colleges start that early? Military Academies? I thought even that was later in July.

Quarter system will do that.

We just go back from orientation. It was a disaster. DD did not connect with anyone and is seriously doubting the choice she made.

I honestly don't know what I'd do if my kid said that. How are you reacting PP, or are you trying to just not react.
