"big" gift for a one year old

Anonymous
I need a "big" gift for a one year old girl. Looking to spend a few hundred dollars. Ideally one or two nice things instead of lots of toys. Are toy kitchens too old for a one year old? other ideas?

Deluxe play kitchen, or one of those indoor playsets with a slide.

Find a really big box.

Think of it like what do you want to own? What big item do you want in your play space/living room/yard?

The best “big” gift we got our kid for his first birthday was the Cozy Coupe car. Loved that thing. And it’s about $60.
(You don’t need to spend a lot of money on a one year old.)

A remote, set of keys, or my toothbrush is what my 1YO seemed to enjoy most.

For a “big” gift what about a bounce house?

None, college fund. A few small gifts are plenty.

A play kitchen is a good idea. or how about one of those indoor teepee/playhouse things? But I'd definitely run these ideas by the parents. These are big presents indeed.

Agree with this. There's no need to spend a lot. They don't understand the value of money.

A nice play kitchen (might be too young now but probably will love it soon—my kids started playing w it around 18 months), play set/climbing and sliding structure for either inside or outside, cozy coupe, or one of those cozy foam armchairs w their name on it (not a toy but something both my kids and I have really loved having and use all the time for reading books or building forts now at ages 4 and 2.)

Get one of those cars they can drive around (I think $200-$300) or get a Barbie dreamhouse (over $100).

Or if it is about you redoing a favor (the parents have done something for you and you want to repay it at this time in the form of a gift), just get a small toy that a 1 year old will like along with a giftcard to Amazon or Target.

As to your question - toy kitchens are not old for a 1 year old. The parents can wait to give it. They will start using it at around 18 months (at least mine did)

Another idea for a 1 YO - one of those pottery barn every where chairs.

It will be used for a long time.
