lovenox vs enoxaparin: would pay for the brand instead of the generic? (OOO)
|
| Nope... doesn't matter one bit |
|
I've used both and they both worked just fine. My MFM was cautious when the generic came out and wanted me on the brand at first. Then she saw many of her other patients antiXa come back fine using the generic and said it was fine to switch.
With my insurance, brand name was $20 a month and the generic was $5 so it wasn't a huge difference for me. I'm sure others would have been stuck paying a lot more if the generic were not available. |

If the difference in price isn't exhorbitant I would go with the brand. There are some studies showing variations in quality. I'm not sure anti-Xa levels are the only thing that matters even though that is the test for anticoagulation.
