Metro Police use tazer on bystander

Anonymous
This incident is really disturbing to me. And can I say as a daily metro rider that these two metro cops seem unusually excitable compared to others I've witnessed. I notice that generally the mix of metro cops is white/black or black/hispanic or hispanic/white more often than two white cops. And yes, that has a bearing on how I view this incident.

I have mixed feelings about this. I am a super-woke person and I have actually intervened in an arrest before, but in an extremely cautious way. It does not do ANY good for a bystander to get in the face of the officers and make the situation more tense. At a certain point, if you're fighting with officers while they are trying to deal with a situation, you are in fact obstructing them ... and could make the situation more dangerous for everyone. Anyone who is going to take on the role of bystander needs to assure themselves that they are not making the situation worse.

Also, apparently the kids being arrested had been threatening people with sticks and fireworks on the platform. So I think it's important for bystanders not to assume they know what was going on.

And of course, none of this is to let the police off the hook for excessive force -- which seems to clearly be deployed here.

Kids were attacking passengers and this guy was defending the attackers

Yeah, a lot of times these videos are borderline in how they could be interpreted. I still tend to side with the citizen because the cops are supposed to be professionally trained and behave like professionals regardless of what the citizen is saying to them.

But in this one there is NO question that this cop behaved inappropriately and should be FIRED. And I know for sure that if I, an older white woman, had done the same thing as this citizen, that officer would never have shoved me and tazed me.

There's no law that says someone should be tazed for talking to a cop and expressing an opinion with which the cop disagrees. That's the country I thought I lived in. What country do you live in, pp?

The cop is toast.

He lied in his police report which shows he knows what he did was wrong.

It's not a good situation. Also, the woman recording added to all the drama too. She was ranting and screaming calling the to the police (white men) colonizers, getting in their faces. She was too much.

contrary to popular belief police tase she even kill unarmed whites. It just doesn’t make the news. Fairfax police killed three unarmed White’s over 9 years and their stories barely made the news. Police in Frederick killed Ethan saylor who had Down’s syndrome for not leaving a movie theater
