| Who are the best boy coaches at Stoddert? |
| Why? What age group? At development of u10 or getting the most out of a u17? Some coaches will work well with a standard big physical player but be totally clueless with a technical player. There is a big difference between catching u9 and u16. |
| How about the middle years? |
| Yes. I am looking for info on middle years too. U12-u15 |

So Stoddert is not really know for great coaches. It’s a small pretty isolated club(in terms of interaction with close by clubs). As such they can get by with okay or bad coaches and few parents will know the difference. Each coach does what he or she wants. I think there is some movement to change this but it is an uphill battle.
The bottom line- best kids move to other clubs. |

I wouldn't say that the best kids move to other clubs, although PP is right that Stoddert has some challenges keeping the top kids from year to year at the middle to older age groups, especially with the transition to U15. It is hurt by not having a strong high school-aged program (DA or ECNL), although some very strong players have stayed in order to continue playing with their friends, avoid long commutes, etc. I also think it's hurt by the lack of field space/time. It is awful to work with DC Parks and Rec to get and use field space. When your fields are poor quality yet are closed by the city at the slightest sign of rain, it's hard to get in enough practice. I don't know why Stoddert doesn't spend more of the $$ collected from travel players to rent well-maintained fields for evening practices at private schools, for instance.
On the coaching, Mohamed Bennani is the coach for the U13 and U14 blue teams and is excellent. |
Does Stoddert tend to have decent college commitments? |
If you want to play in college, you have to play the show cases- ie big tournaments. The college coaches only go to see the top brackets at the show cases. Stoddert girls does not play those tournaments or showcase. Do not know about the boys, are they playing them and in the top bracket? |
| Does anyone know much about Ronny Amaguana or Scott Currie? |
