Bethesda Tournament Changes

Just got an email about the Bethesda Tournament...trying to make up for last year's misery.
They're splitting it into three weekends, one for younger kids, then older girls, then older boys.
I assume that way they need fewer fields, and hopefully can use turf for everything.
Plus, they're paying for tournament insurance for all the teams.
Interested in seeing if all the teams that swore they'd never come back will come back.

I give them credit that at least they've done something to address some of the issues.
However, I'd be more impressed if they gave a discount to returning teams.

Good way to make up for last year. However, if Muldoons is still one of the fields, even this is not enough. No one should ever have to play at Muldoons, Period!

I know this is an extreme minority opinion, but I have loved having kids play at Muldoons. We've had three kids go through their younger years there. I know the fields are not good, but I love driving out to the country for the games.

Why don’t they just redo Muldoon’s? And then rename it?

The owner and Bethesda are ready and willing to put in AstroTurf but he NIMBYs out there are against it.

I love a nice drive in the country too, but not if it's to get to a crappy fields.

I guess it is in the agriculture area...so maybe they should try to put a decent grass field in?

+1
The drive in the Spring was great using River Rd. All the cherry trees were in bloom. Wonderful drive until I got nailed by the speed camera ($40) in Poolesville and then the ref called the game once he took a look at the field! : (

Pretty much impossible. With the slope headed down to the creek, the whole thing would have to be regraded, not to mention the damage from polo.

I give them props for finally addressing the issue.

Steps in the right direction. Just need to either upgrade Muldoons or find another site as a replacement. But glad to see they are acknowledging the issues of the past.

Why not just redo it as nice grass fields ? Level, with good drainage?

BSC’s website indicates that the tournament will be played at Germantown Soccerplex. Thank goodness.
