| DH's niece graduates from high school, and she is going to attend college in Europe. He won't come back to the state after college, and most likely we would never meet anymore. Their family moves to here this year from other countries, and the whole family are moving again next year to other countries because of their work. We are thinking giving her cash + card, how much should we give? If we want to get her a small gift as well, what should we give her? We & DH have only met her twice, not sure what she likes or not, thanks! |
| Cash is fine. Our kids received a range of gifts from relatives and friends - anywhere from $20 up to $100. The aunt and uncle gifts were typically either $50 or $100. |
| I might give a photo album with pics of extended family since she's moving away. |
One of my kids got a beautiful photo album/scrapbook from a relative. She was polite enough to accept it and pack it along in the car for the trip off to school, but it never quite made it up to her room. We saved it, but don't be surprised if the recipient doesn't want to haul it off to Europe with them. |
