Hi. My rising 4th grade girl has done a lax Clinique but now wants to join a team and play this fall. She already has a somewhat busy fall schedule so a) would love recommendations for a league she can join that has some intro players and b) I would love to join a place where I can see what nights they practice ahead of time. I’ll even travel a bit for that nugget. Please share your recommendations.
Is she 2028? You could sign up for your local rec program for this summer and/or coming fall. That might be a good place to start, although the practice times and game schedules won't be posted until much later. Also, Madlax Girls has tryouts starting on June 17 for their fall travel program. Since their girls teams are still pretty new your DD is almost certain to make a team, and with only one clinic under her belt your DD may not be competitive for other programs just yet. Madlax schedules are posted way in advance so no surprises there.
Pride lacrosse has a Summer CUBS clinic for grades 3-5 that your DD might enjoy. That would also give you some insight as to whether or not she should try out for Pride's 2028 team later this summer.

I recommend the summer camp run by Courtney Gibbons, the Falls Church HS coach. https://webtrac.fallschurchva.gov/wbwsc/webtrac.wsc/wbsplash.html?wbsi=a90c3732-0be7-c483-4e14-feef5453e3c4 . She's a great coach, has lots of energy and makes learning fun.
+1 FCYLC has been great for us. |
