The BEST toy you ever received or gave.

I bought those cardboard large blocks for my kids 5 years ago. The ones that come 12 to a pack, and you have to put them together. I got two packs. They still play with them all the time.

Bicycles. Got them for my kids when they were 3 and they use them all the time. It's a great way to spend family time.

Hope I didn't stink up the coding. Anyway, it was hilarious how much the recipient loved it. He still does, although he is now willing to leave it.

Ooo, I think my son would love something like this. Where did you get them? I'll try Amazon, but figured I'd ask which ones in particular these were.

Totally agree with PP. The Design & Drill is absolutely the best toy that I have ever purchased for my son. I recommend it to everyone. I got it for him when he was 3, and he still plays with it all the time at 5. His friends come over to our house to play with it. I just purchased one for my nephew for his birthday. It's very sturdy and is great for hand/eye coordination and learning to follow patterns.

Not the OP, but Lillian Vernon has a great deal on those now. Two sets of 24 for $20 (and you really need at least 2 sets).

That's great! Thanks.

Right now, DS has been happy stacking empty formula containers, but these look like a great option.

Funny - We got those blocks for our kids last Christmas, I bet them have played with them 10 times!

I have the foam "blocks" we love them. From 3 to 6 years old. earlier perhaps but not if they bite things. .. .

What age are we talking about?

We have gotten a LOT of mileage out of our Leapfrog Learning Table - definitely one of the best gifts we've received.

Another favorite is the Mozart Magic Cube - it's a great toy and has a long shelf life. Both kids have loved it.

I hated the Mozart Magic Cube. It's gotta be the most annoying toy I've ever received. If it had a button to allow the volume to be lower, maybe it wouldn't be so bad.

Hm. I guess I loved...

my microscope. (Yes, I am a nerd.)

But I also liked my roller skates. (Slightly less nerdy, perhaps, even if just a tiny bit?)

This dump truck is quite nice.

Lots going on, for about 18 months up to 4-5 years. The shapes are toys in themselves, springloaded little animals.

My favorite gifts of all time were a typewriter (an item which of course no longer exists) and a Barbie make-up head (you got to put makeup on a Barbie bust). They both sound pretty drippy now.

Betty Crocker Oven - hands down
