did you get the H1N1 shot or regular flu in your first trimester? Please come in

Please no preachiness - I know plenty of folks wouldn't get it at all. Just looking for those who did. How far along were you? Any reactions? I just had a positive pregnancy test this weekend, think I'm at the four week point, have a sonogram at the end of next week but the receptionist (at Reiter Hill) didn't say anything about the shot.

I've read about single vs. multiple (perservative issue). What did you do? Also, I never got the regular flu shot this fall. Should I get that as well?

I got the flu mist for regular flu right before I got pregnant. I got the shot for H1N1 when I was 6 weeks along. No problems. Oh, and still got H1N1. They said it would have been FAR worse if I had not had the shot. And it was hell.

I got both shots in my first trimester. I didn't have a choice about what type of h1n1 shot because it was right when they started having flu shot clinics, but the baby appears to be fine.

Got the regular flu shot three days before I conceived and the H1N1 two days after my first positive pregnancy test around 4 weeks. Am 9 weeks now and everything looks okay. Saw the heartbeat and baby at 7 weeks two days. I am usually very healthy and don't get sick that often but I am now fighting a cold that I got from my 2 year old and it is draining me! My son and husband got over it so quickly and I am still congested. I can only imagine how my body would react to the regular flu or H1N1.

Previous poster - Got the preservatives free regular flu shot from Safeway and the single dose low preservatives H1N1 shot from the DC clinic. Would have gotten it regardless it is had the preservatives or not but because they had the free/low one, I went ahead and did that.

I received both my seasonal flu shot and the H1N1 shot during my 5th week of pregnancy. Probably early for some folks' comfort, but that's when my work offered the seasonal flu shot. Both my 22 month-old and I received the thimerasol-free H1N1 shot at a Fairfax mass vaccination clinic. I am now in my 10th week. No issues thus far.

I got the seasonal very early on and the H1N1 shot when I was 9 weeks.

Had H1N1 at 9 weeks. Have had a couple US since then (to monitor a cyst) - baby appears to be doing great. Can't find the seasonal shot, but would like to get it this week to protect me during upcoming holiday travel.

OP here. Did you all insist on the thimerosal (preservative) free version? I just called Reiter Hill and they have a single does but said it does have a little bit of thimerosal in it.

I had both three days apart at around 12 weeks and both had preservative in them.

Everyone who got the H1N1 vaccine at the DC clinics who was pregnant (myself included) got the one with a little bit of thimerosal in it. The completely Thimerosal free ones were not available when I got the shot. I'm not sure if they are available now or not. A lot of people call the single dose one thimerosal free although there is a minor trace amount.

I had H1N1 (trace preservative) at 10 weeks and regular flu shot at 12 weeks (with thimerasol). The CDC recommends pregnant women get the shots, even if all you can find is the one with thimerasol. I had the trans-nuchal ultrasound yesterday (after both shots) - baby is fine
