next steps in fertility treatments?

HI ladies,
I just finished fertility testing and anxiously waiting to see my doctor next week to determine next steps. Just want to play "what if" and ask what experience anyone else has had with similar circumstances. I am 38, conceived baby #1 naturally 2 years ago. I have been trying for 6 months for #2. My AMH came back normal for my age, my follicle count was 13 total, my husband had good counts with the exception of a "borderline" morphology score. My FSH was also "borderline" at 10.36 on day 3 of my cycle. My hSG was clear. I am really curious/nervous if the doctor will recommend IUI or say go straight to IVF. Anyone have thoughts on this? As I mentioned, I know each case is individual but just trying to imagine at this point and guess what will happen next.

If I were you, and I really wanted a 2nd baby, I'd do maybe 1 or 2 IUI cycles and then prepare yourself to do IVF.

If you can afford IVF easily, I'd maybe skip the IUIs and just go directly to IVF.

Thank you- my insurance is very good and we can thankfully do IVF without too much cost.

I also wouldn't waste too much time with IUI. IVF, for the most part, is pretty easy and straightforward. And if your numbers are decent, you might be able to do a natural or mini stim cycle.

I had similar stats at 36.5 and did 2 NCIVF cycles, which didn’t work. Since you have insurance, I would go straight to stim cycles. I highly reco CCRM.

NCIVF = Natural Cycle IVF (no meds, they just monitor you and then retrieve the egg based on your natural cycle)

Stim Cycle = with meds, protocols will vary depending on your numbers and the clinic

if you have good insurance, i also say skip IUI.

we had similar stats (high count but low morph, me totally normal except AMH 1.2 and FSH 12). i was 36. we'd had one loss at that point.

doc said ivf was best course of action, but if we wanted to do something else we could do medicated cycles with our without IUI. because we'd conceived twice on our own at that point, she didn't think IUI would up our odds all that much.

got pregnant with third medicated cycle, but it was a chemical. we're now on our third retrieval cycle.

no one ever says "i should have waited longer to do ivf." if you can go straight to ivf, do.

Thank you! This is very helpful. I think I will advocate for IVF is it is presented as a choice next week
