| I am flipping out because I think I supplemented way too much Vitamin D3 during the end of the first trimester/beginning of the second trimester. I had a deficiency (less than 15ng/mL) so took 400 IU as part of my prenatal supplements, and 2,500 IU in addition to that (not every day), sometimes combined, sometimes not. I will call my OB tomorrow but in the meantime, I would appreciate any input from those who have supplemented at higher levels than the 400/600 IU usually recommended. TIA. |
| Get tested. I take that much D daily and my levels are still low. |
| My levels are way low and I only discovered this after three kids. I took 2000iu daily while pregnant and arguably should have been taking more. |
| This is not dangerous. I am rx’ed 50,000 IUs/2 weeks and am still low. |
Thank you. Not worried about myself, just about the little one growing inside of me

This was also the case throughout my pregnancy. Kid is great! |

My RE office, which tends to be very conservative, just said no more than 5,000 IUs a day.
I'm on 4,000 IUs total now in the first trimester and my OB was fine with it. I wouldn't worry. |
| I've been told by doctors that it's very hard to OD on Vitamin D. I think taking 5000 per day for month and months could be a problem, but I think you're fine with under 3000. |
| That’s not much at all. |
| It's very hard to OD and I definitely wouldn't worry about it. |
| I took more than that for all 3 of my pregnancies and my starting levels were above yours. |
I've been taking 5,000 daily my entire pregnancy. This was from an Rx from my GP for low D3 (the first 4,000) and then my prenatal has 1,000. At my intake appointment at like 10 weeks they didn't say it was too high, but I am a little freaked now and just called my doc.

I’m this PP. My nurse called back and said the midwife said 5,000/day was safe. I’m still going to ask at the next OB appt. |
| Truly, there is no need to take any supplements other than folic acid. |
My “barely above ricket’s unless on supplements” vitamin D levels would like a word with you. OP - I currently live just off the equator and still have to supplement and supplemented throughout my pregnancy. Toxic doses are somewhere around 10,000 iu daily over months. Also, most prenatal have D2-not D3-which doesn’t absorb as well. If you are concerned just have your doctor do a vitamin D levels when you have a blood draw next but don’t panic yourself. |
