s/o Spectra pump: how much and what settings

I got the S1 and it HURTS. I have to do the let down at 70 and L1 or L2 or the expression at 38 and L1 or L2. L3 is too painful. My nipples don’t look squished so is this normal??

Also, I get about 3 oz per boob in @ 12-15 minutes. That seems low.

Can anyone share their experience? I had the Ameda last time and feel like it worked better, which seems unlikely, and it was six years ago....

3oz per boob is great! You may need bigger flanges. I had 32B/34A boobs pre-pregnancy and it didn't mean anything when it came to flange sizes, had to go up to 28mm. The ones that normally come in the package are notoriously small. I use my Spectra with Medela parts, so that might work for you too (Medela parts are more readily available). You can also go tk the Breastfeeding Center if you are in the district and they can advise you on all things pumping.

Or you may need smaller flanges! It’s about the size of the nipple, not how big your breasts are! Go see an LC. Pain could definitely be because you’re pumping with the wrong size.
