| None of this is surprising. Alito was a member of a Princeton alumni group that attempted to limit the admission of women and minorities and wanted to restrict birth control. He has always been a bigot and a Christian nationalist and it's now recorded on tape. And that his wife is equally bad, well, we had figured that one out already. |
It’s reported she’s an alcoholic. |
| John Roberts comes off well in these tapes. Despite being entrapped into the recording and a lot of leading questions, he sounds reasonable and well, not like the equivalent of a Christian Taliban follower, which is what Alito sounds like. We can only hope Alito resigns soon. Although we'll probably not be that lucky since no one else would want him. |
Really? Where? I assumed she was an elderly woman losing her filter and just saying what she really thinks (which is bigoted hateful stuff). |
Roberts may not be an ideologue but he is presiding over the court’s demise. |
True--if he truly had an interest in the reputation of the court, he would have done something beyond the voluntary policing of ethics and he'd be actively shoving Alito off to his retirement. |
Roberts is weak. Just like McConnell who didn’t have the patriotism to find Trump guilty in the senate for J6. Agree completely that Roberts has overseen the destruction of the Supreme Court. |

“You know what I want?” the justice’s wife said to the woman, Lauren Windsor, who secretly recorded the conversation during a black-tie event last week at the Supreme Court. “I want a Sacred Heart of Jesus flag because I have to look across the lagoon at the Pride flag for the next month.”
But Ms. Alito said that after she suggested the Sacred Heart of Jesus flag as a retort to the symbol for L.G.B.T.Q. rights, her husband said, “Oh, please, don’t put up a flag.” She said that she had agreed, for now, but that she had told him that “when you are free of this nonsense,” “I’m putting it up and I’m going to send them a message every day, maybe every week. I’ll be changing the flags.” https://www.nytimes.com/2024/06/10/us/politics/alito-pride-flag.html?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR1BptPTxYS6zN76zd3RFBeasm0j9NVLIILkbPDqyGaD23IGa9YBe3m7p8M_aem_AY07gAvnX02EDKQbdqcAPpzGC7gJLgXVScxO-1WBIzDHM7LxyHMO4UHoAajAXa5TD5EE2nPZAykGY5wmvdulFWT1 |
I wonder if Martha Alito defines "free of this nonsense" as when Alito finally quits the Supreme Court or when people stop paying attention to them again? |
|
They are so much smaller and more petty than I ever could have imagined.
It’s just so disappointing. I’ve always had faith and our process and institutions, and these people have destroyed that trust. |
So she “supposedly” flew the upside down flag before her ”argument” with the neighbor. Now why would anyone believe a word of either of the Alitos? He has been lying for years. He lied when he put his hand on the Bible and swore an oath. Some man of god he is. |

Mrs. Alito sounds more than a bit unhinged. I am very glad to not be her neighbor in Alexandria.
https://www.yahoo.com/news/justice-alito-wife-vows-revenge-003943594.html The wife of Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito said that she wants to get back at people who raised a controversy after she and the justice were criticized last month for flying politically affiliated flags at their homes. “You come after me, I’m gonna give it back to you,” Martha-Ann Alito said in the recording of a private conversation at the Supreme Court Historical Society’s annual dinner on June 3. “There will be a way, it doesn’t have to be now, but there will be a way they know,” she added. “Don’t worry about it.” |
| It would be karma if all Alito's neighbors started flying Pride flags to ignore them. Gays surrounding them!! |
If you were married to a male chauvinist pig you'd be an alcoholic too. They deserve each other. |
This would be absolutely splendiferous! Alito would be sputtering! |
