Same rules apply to MD team tryouts tho too, just to be clear / fair |
Correct. They have not decided. Show up for the workouts and do your best to get noticed. |
They probably know a third of the girls they want for the Blue team. The rest is wide open. That’s is about right players. These will most likely be your Pride and Stars girls, yes because that is who they have been following the most. But trust me, they are picking the best ATHLETES, which sometimes are not always the best lacrosse players right away |
I’ve heard they mostly take tall girls, is that true? |
What do most people consider as tall for this age? |
75% percentile height at 14 is about 5'5" for girls. I'd think above 75th percentile would probably be considered tall at this age. For reference, 90th percentile is ~5'6.5" and 95th is ~5'7.5". |
Don't listen to the comments from folks who make it sound like it's all decided and locked up. Consider their motivation. In the intelligence world they call this "intending to influence rather than inform." Fact: Capital will work hard to pick the best players. The Capital '25s are ranked #1 in the country. They didn't pick that team because someone "worked the room"--whatever that means in this context--or played on Stars, or went to Healthy Baller once a week. Going to the prep clinics and demonstrating interest might help at the margins, but the politics of this process is way overstressed on these threads. Stay the course; be rational. |
This makes sense. |
Good to hear Capital has changed. Definitely was not how it worked for my DDs class. |
Looking at certain parents to read this. 100% |
They will pick the best athletes, plain and simple. Don't let all the chatter of these crazy dads get in your head. If your daughter is good enough to play she will. It doesn’t matter how many Capital clinics, healthy baller sessions she attended in middle school and what club team she plays for. Also girls change and develop so much in a year. There are girls who these dads aren’t even (creepily) watching who will make the team. |
What a gross comment to insinuate that anyone here has anything but an interest in lacrosse. Go spread your man-hating BS somewhere else. |
Agreed. Sick. |
