Why would you attend U9 tryouts and then decline an offer?

Reasons?

Not everyone is fully committed to a particular outcome at the time of tryouts. Different sports going on, want to see what happens but keep their options open, etc.

If you tried out at a club that has 3 or 4 teams and got an offer for the B team but had a "better" offer somewhere else, that would be understandable. You don't know unless you try out, right?

We declined the top Stoddert U9 team offer a year ago because we wanted to play elsewhere. It was a "lesser" league and team but a better fit for us with regard to our child's enthusiasm, practice locations and times, and honestly cost.

Cost, better offer, lots pf possible reasons.

We tried out for three clubs and chose the one that best fit our needs. Declined the other two. We actually went in thinking we would definitely accept an offer from one of them when Infact, after tryouts, we liked them the least.

We did for U10. Made blue stoddert, then decided to go with a smaller, less expensive option. Also the vibe felt better with the smaller club.

I love the posters posting about "we declined" and "we tried out."

You are far, far, too invested in Aiden's and Bethany's soccer "careers."

Our DD tried out and got in to a team but then had to drop out because the practice schedule conflicted with another activity that was immovable and more important.

Why are you asking, OP?

Dude just stop. Every time someone posts it’s not some grand conspiracy.

Attended tryout, met the coaches, realized they were tools, went to another club.

Easy.

DD wanted to try out but we were on the fence about letting her go since we were not sure we wanted to commit to driving. We decided to let her go to tryouts to see what would happen. The offer came for one of the lower teams. We discussed with her how she would have to give up other activities because of the time commitment and she wasn’t thrilled about that. It wasn’t worth the money or time for us since she was fine staying on a rec team.

I can think of no U9 program in the DMV that is worth an extra long commute

At U9 most people have kids try out at multiple clubs because that is a good time to get a feel for clubs and coaches. It is very common to turn a team down at this age BECAUSE they tried out at many clubs.
