What are some really nice day spas that do nails/pedicures/hair around the Alexandria, VA area? Do you have a stylist that you love and would recommend? Thanks!

I do not care for the Sugar house, it is very crowded and you feel really rushed. I have been going to the Lorien Spa in the Lorien Hotel on King street. They are about a couple of years old and the staff are great.

I have not found that to be true about Sugar House. Have always been put into a relaxation area with tea or water before treatments and encouraged to stay after as long as I want. Maybe pp went on a Saturday where all spas and salons tend to be busy.

Anyway, they are a large spa spread out over 4 floors and offer anything you could want.

Count me as another one who thinks Sugar House is really overrated (by the way, they spend serious $$$$$ in advertising, which is why they always make it into the "top" list in the Washingtonian). The services are very hit or miss (I've had wraps, massages and facials there - wraps and massages were horrible). The nail - mani/pedi - are fine but nothing to write home about. And the ambiance pretty much blows.

Spend a little more (not even) and go to a really nice spa like Lorien or travel to DC (Four Seasons/Mandarin).

But save your money with Sugarhouse...

Are there great stylists that you can recommend there? I would love to be able to ask for a person by name because someone has used them and loves their results.
