Can I do anything about the yapping dog behind my house EVERY night?

Anonymous
Backyard neighbors have a yappy dog. They put him out for 10 mins at 9 and 10:30 every night, and he yaps pretty much for 10 mins straight. I try to go to sleep at 10 and as often as not am woken up by the 10:30 outing. They may not realize how the sound echos off the houses around us and right into my bedroom windows, but they obviously know he is yappy. Any recommendations? Can I ask that they not let him out so late, or take him for a walk instead of just putting him in the yard? Can I make a noise complaint? Help - I’m tempted to throw chocolate bars over the fence

Look up your local noise ordinance. It's 10pm where I live.

Don't poison the dog, they'll know it's you, and this is not the dog's fault.

Noise ordinance where I live is 9pm, so I would talk to them about the 10:30pm yaps. It's yapping because it's alone, so if they could just walk it, there wouldn't be any noise.

Yes, talk to your neighbor.

Good luck. Three bark across the street. Complaining has not helped.

Purchase a bark collar, and drop it off or have it delivered to their address.

Record it and blare it back at them

Our neighbors talked to us about our barking dog. We were upset we’d bothered them and fixed the problem. Could be as simple as that.

This.
In our neck of the woods, you have a right to call Animal Control and complain about a dog barking at off-hours. They then have to come over and talk to the owners.
See if you can pull off something like that.
I'd also be pretty pissed if I had to deal with that dog every single night. Ugh. My sympathy, OP!

look at 22:43's product. We had one that looked like a birdhouse and we put it in our hedge. It worked!

Call the county animal control and complain. They will stop by their house and give a warning without telling them who called. Next time they get called out the owners get a fine. Dogs are not allowed to bark continuously for over 10-15 minutes.

Our neighbors put out their dog every morning at 5:30am, and instead of waiting while he does his business and quickly letting him back in they simply let him bark for 10-15 mins every.damn.day.at.5:30am.

Jerks.

The first thing to do is talk to your neighbor.
