Dance recital season is here! Does anyone know of a place that will take donations of recital costumes? Thank you. |
If the same costumes are used every year, why not donate it to the studio for a future student to use? I don't know who else would have a use for it. |
They use a different costume each year. |
Theater programs? |
I don't know who would want it, it's not going to match anything so they can't use it for another dance recital. My DD's costume just went into her dress-up box.
They really should reuse the same costumes every year or rent them because it's such a waste. |
If you have the time and energy, sell it on ebay or craigslist or FB marketplace. Or put it on freecycle. |
If it was one of those pretty tutu dresses, there are plenty of kids who play dress up, in them including mine. |
First, consider hanging onto it (you think they might want her in a costume for a parade or other smaller outside performance?)
Then, ask the studio. I ask our dance teacher all the time She has said yes to keeping them about half the time. She has two walk in closets in her house for potential performance gear. It has come in handy when you need a couple of costumes for a small dance part (like an older group joining a younger group for a small part) Then donate. |
Lots of preschools love them for the dress up bin. |
good will. you will make some kid's day. |
A charity called Traveling Tutus will take them and get them to kids who can't afford dance costumes.
Www.travelingtutus.org A dance store in Chantilly VA, the Dance Shoppe, will collect costumes and get them to Traveling Tutus, I believe. There probably are other dance stores or studios that will collect costumes for the charity. Or start a collection at your own studio! |
