| I need to be in Arlington for a couple of weeks. What would be the best way for me to get to Tysons Corner. Quickest would be toll right? How do I get a transponder (is that what it is called)? is it worth it? I don't mind an extra few minutes to avoid the hassle of getting something for a short period. |
| Are you near the Metro? The easiest way is taking the Silver Line. |
|
Westbound from Arlington to Tysons you don't need a transponder depending on where you exit. I get off at Spring Hill and there's a toll, but you could instead get off the Access Road at 123 South which is before the tolls start.
Depends on where in Tysons you are headed. |
| Where in Tyson’s? I commute from Arlington but it’s a huge area and my answer will vary depending on your location. |
|
OP. I had to do the same commute last year and got billed for the entire week. Lucky it was just the toll and the fine was waived. Wanted to do it right this time around.
Will be in a car from 22207 to Tysons - around 9am for a week or two. |
22102 in Tysons. |
| I commute from Arlington to Rte. 7 (near Whole Foods), and I take 66. I take Lee Highway to Washington Blvd onto 66. No toll. It takes me about 15 minutes. |
| The toll goes the other way in the morning. Tyson’s to Arlington. (Towards the city). Arlington to Tyson’s has the toll in the PM. |
this |
this is your best commute get off at rt.7 and take Leesburg up into Tysons |
| Depending on what time you drive it, Old Dominion toward 123 might be a good bet. Use Waze to find your best routes, but ignore any routes that want to put you through neighborhood roads and then make a left onto a major road at an intersection without a traffic light. Waze loves doing that when you’re going from 22207 to McLean/Tyson’s. |
This is so true! I commute from Falls Church to McLean and Waze often wants me to turn left from a neighborhood street onto Lee Highway without a light. |
