| We're looking at traveling to Greece next summer with a five year old and an 18 month old. Any suggestions on an itinerary or a must-see place? |
| wouldn't... sorry, just being honest. |
| Yeah i would tend to agree. I just went with a friend of mine to a wedding in the islands (we went to athens for a bit too). All great for adults (and especially couples) but otherwise very expensive and not very kid oriented. Its crowded, tons of walking, the ruins aren't interesting to kids, the islands i went to didn't have great kid beaches. Why do you have to go to Greece? Perhaps if you get off the beaten track it might be fine but i can think of many other places for the money that i would bring my kids that young to before Greece. |

This may give you some ideas:

Totally disagree. Greece is one of the most kid-friendly places in Europe. We are taking our two young children next summer (they are 5). Our plan is to spend 2 nights in Athens doing the ruins, as well as finding fun parks, etc. for the kids, and then heading to an island where we plan to rent a private house with a pool. I think too many people fear travel with their children, I say GO FOR IT! Will your kids be bored sometimes? Sure, but they will be bored in the OBX or Cape Cod at times, too. Here are a few useful websites.

PP here. Just took a look at the above link and there's not really any kid friendly stuff. This link may be useful though:
http://www.greecetravel.com/kids/ I've been to Greece a few times but only in the off season. You just have to make sure that you book a resort (if you are after that kind of thing) that is not full of loud discos and drunk tourists. |
| naplio is a fantastic place to visit, nice beach very close and very very kid friendly. Lots to do right in the town. So beautiful too. Most Greeks will tell you it is the best Greek has to offer. Google for all it has to offer. Have a great time. It is worth the trip! |

Yes, I would go. I have been to Greece and it kid friendly. Greece has great beaches and ppl are very family oriented there so it would be easy to find things to do.
I enjoyed walking around the shops on the islands and sitting outside everyday for dinner - I went with a family that had an 18 month old and she was the highlight of our trip and enjoyed herself very much. As a matter of fact she was so worn out at the end of the day that she slept in her little stroller right after dinner and we adults enjoyed the night life sitting outside, it was our best trip. |
| OP here. Thanks so much for the info. We're still not sure Greece is the place, but the links should help us decide. Again, thanks for the help. |

We went to Crete and stayed at a resort. Not very adventurous but we were living in Europe anyway and we saw it as our annual beach vacation.
We stayed at one of the Grecotel resorts. We had a room with a pool shared only by the rooms near us and the ocean right outside our door. They had a kids club (our kids only did a few things there -- most of the kids did not speak English, which wasn't too bad because our kids have a second language that was popular there). They had a magic show one night that our 6 yerar old loved. |
