HSG showed blocked fallopian tube

My HSG showed one blocked fallopian tube. RE said not to worry and we can still go ahead with the IUI we were planning. He didn't seem the least bit worried. Should I be?

Yeah, a little bit. Google hydrosalpinx. If this is what is causing your blocked tube, it could be preventing you from getting pg. A hydro leaks toxic fluid into your uterus preventing a successful pregnancy. At my HSG at Shady grove, they ignored it or blamed it on the fluid or irritation or something? I went on to have 3 unsuccessful IUIs. It wasn't until the ER of my first IVF that they recognized the hydro. I had a chemical pregnancy that cycle and then had to have the tube removed. When I had the surgical consult the guy said on my original HSG that the hydro was there, plain as day. Someone dropped the ball.

Totally agree with PP, my SG doctor said don't worry go ahead with IUI and it turned out I needed both tubes removed. Luckily, I moved to a different doctor and just underwent a successful IVF.

OP, I had one blocked tube and my RE was unconcerned because we felt that we knew what caused it (previous surgery on that tube to remove a benign tumor) and thus we weren't concerned about infected fluid. If you don't know the cause then I'd recommend a second opinion.

I had one blocked tube (totally unknown cause) and it caused me no issues and had a successful IUI at age 36 (on 2nd try).
