Anyone planning on going to the zoo tomorrow for the members dino kickoff? How bad will the parking be? |
We went today and parking was packed as was the zoo. I imagine tomorrow will be worse. |
Not a chance. Assured to lose a shin or have a kid taken out by a stroller. It’s going to be overwhelming. |
Not for opening, no. We have tickets to the show next weekend. But it’s a 10:30 show, so we’ll get there really early. |
What is the DC Zoo? |
National Zoological Park, NZP, National Zoo |
We went Sunday at 10:30 and got there early to walk around (around 9am). No parking issues at that time. |
How was it? Were the dinos cool? Was the show worth it? We are members so we normally avoid the zoo during the summer because of the crowds but if it is worth it would venture in. |
Also interested in hearing how it is. It's not expensive, which perversely makes me think it's not super cool. We live by the zoo and my ten year old has seen the ads and really wants to go, but I'm wondering if he'll be underwhelmed.
We're close enough and it's cheap enough that it's fine if it is underwhelming, but I'd still like to hear. |
It was cool, but short and ended abruptly compared to how slowly the first 15 minute half proceeded. TONs or wailing babies in there as well (Sunday show). Overall 3 very cool scenes with awesome large costumes, fun narrator guy, but I felt like there have been one more scene especially since he started out talking about three types of Dinos. There was a dragonfly scene, trex scene, triceratops scene and maybe I missed it or was waiting for the duck bills scene and it never happened... Great audience participation if your kid is one for the 3-4 selected! I’d do it for the $12pp, they did a good job. Puppets look real! |
I was there on Saturday morning and it wasn’t more crowded than normal. We didn’t see the show but the animatronic dinos were pretty cool. |
