Is it just me, or have there been more accidents than usual lately?

Seriously, what's the deal?

It appears that there have been accidents on 495, 66, or 270 (or all three) every day lately. Usually, I make my Beltway commute slogging through the earlier parts of rush hour with maybe only one major hiccup every week or so, but now it seems like there have been accidents all over the place. Is this the case, or is it just my imagination (maybe I'm more attune to/annoyed by traffic now that the weather is nicer?) What's with all the bad driving lately? Is it arrival of new transplants for summer work? Hot blood from the hot weather? Beachgoers? People shifting their hours earlier?

I make a suburb-to-suburb commute for a 7-3 shift that is usually tolerable, but this past month it has been abnormally horrible. Especially around the American Legion Bridge.
