Looking for single mama friends

Anonymous
Hi everyone,
I know this must sound desperate but it is what it is...I am a 36 year old single mother and am really lonely. It seems everyone is just so busy with their lives at a time when I could really use some company, support and just some good old face to face shared laughter (as opposed to lol'ing online). My siblings whom I am great friends with all have families with busy schedules as do some of my friends. My single friends seem to be busy living their lives and short of my crying out to them "please come over and hang out with me and my son once in awhile" I dont know what else to do. I have hinted that I could use the company, I have asked that they drop by from time to time as both my son and I love to smile and laugh and it is good for my son to experience different people, etc - to no avail. My son and I do go out - to the local playground, museums but maybe I am shy or dont know how to ask for friends (until now), and its just not easy to meet people randomly.
So here I am, looking for friends for my son and I. My son is 19 months and on the go! He is really a joy and I enjoy him! Me, I would love to have a mommy friend(s) whose child is close in age with mine who we can go to kiddie museums with, free performances at the Kennedy Center or just hang out at playground or at each other's homes having coffee/tea...or wine or soymilk and just chat while our kids play. I am currently carless but my son and I are good friends with the metro. I do love the outdoors and would love to expose my son to more natural environment so if you do have car and are open to woodsy/nature excursions I can go in on the gas, snacks...
Looking forward to hearing from you,

Hey friendless in Brookland, I'm in Mt. Rainier. My son is a lot older...he's in second grade...but, yeah. I feel you. Let me figure out how to set up an email that won't give away my real name in public...

I too am not exactly single... but it's complicated... and could use a friend too. Is there an email address we can all email and schedule a meetup?

Ladies,
I am not the OP but to get things moving so we can start supporting each other I set up a group on Yahoo. The link is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dcmamas The group name is dcmamas. Please join the group ASAP so that we can get to know one another and hopefully set up a time to meet.

Hi all,
So glad to meet you all. I am the original poster and i just signed up with the yahoo group set up by last poster.
A fwd thinking single mom from another yahoo moms group i belong to had set up a single mamas group and tried to get folks to meet but I dont think it ever happened. On my part I couldnt because I dont have a car and my son was younger then. All the suggested meeting places were just too much stress for me to even try to make it. Catching the bus with my son, diaper bag and my stroller was just too cumbersome for an activity in the name of fun. So unfortunately I never got to connect with them. I am hoping to find people within my range (walking distance would be fabulous!) so even if I have to catch the bus it is not too many (its getting cold out there). But on a brighter note, my son is older and I dont necessarily have to have the stroller all the time. Of course it would be lovely to meet some moms who would be willing to come pick us up to go to whatever meet up place. As I said before I would help with gas or whatever else is needed. And I would love company at my home. It is quite small but cozy.
Ok, so thats that. Looking fwd to meeting you!
