I'm due with #2 soon and have read conflicting reports about reflux running in families. Our first had it pretty bad and I'm wondering if people here have noticed a correlation between their two kids when it comes to reflux. Thanks! |
Yes, but first had it worse. I didn’t mess around with the second. As soon as I knew, we put him on Prevacid. |
Yes. 2nd had it much worse despite all the additional gadgets and approaches. $100 wedge pillow was a bust. I slept upright hold her on my chest for 3 months. |
Nope, second is still a champ eater 10 years later with no issues at all. |
Nope. |
Nope. First had severe GERD. Second had absolutely no issues. |
My first didn’t have reflux but my second did. |
First had terrible, second had it, but not nearly as bad. First didn’t outgrow it until 14 months, second was better by 6 months. |
Yes, but not as bad. Didn’t have to medicate 2nd but we did need to hold him after eating and he couldn’t sleep flat. |
My second did not. It was horrible for my first. |
Thanks, PP! And complete sympathy for you all, knowing what it's like... I still remember nursing my son while holding him upright, and that was well after he was on Prevacid. :/ Fingers crossed we get lucky with #2. |
Yes. First had silent, second had insane acid reflux, FTT, doctors and ulcers and never sleeping. We never went for a third. My kids' pediatrician told me after my second that odds are very, very high my third child would have insane reflux too. |
Opposite for us. #1 didn’t have it but #2 did. |
First did not have reflux (did, we found out later, have sleep apnea). Second possibly had reflux. Third definitely did not. 2&3 were both incredibly gassy as infants and even as older children. |
Nope
#2 was totally fine! |
