My laptop doesn’t hold a charge. Its touchpad is coming apart. I need a new laptop and I can’t find what I want!
I need some memory, not a ton. Decent sized screen because my eyes are going. Don’t need lightweight because those are super small. Touchpad is good, touchscreen seems unnecessary. I’m a SAHM who does a lot of PTA and organizing tasks, so I need to be able to run word and excel. Some internet, no having. Need a few USB ports for jump drives. Photos are stored on amazon. I’m hoping to keep this in the $800 range. Any good ideas? Thank you! |
I would say consider a Chromebook such as https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Chromebook-Comput...s=electronics&sr=1-3 It DOES work offline. You can either use Google Docs to edit Word/Excel files or it will run the Android versions of Word/Excel. It's secure and no maintenance. |
Can you use flash drives with a chrome book? Does it still run if offline? |
You can do Flash Drives. You can run Office (https://support.office.com/en-us/article/how-...79-b973-d4b1d78561ad) but I would suggest using Google Docs which can both read and write Office format files. |
Chrome books offline are fairly crippled. |
I got a surface tablet with a keyboard attachment and I love it. Runs Microsoft office. Has a USB drive. Use it all the time and it’s very light and portable. Not sure how much memory you need. |
That is no longer true. This change is the result of both offline support having grown a lot since Chromebooks launched and with Chromebooks now able to run Android apps, many of those apps work offline. |
