For those of you who are in the unfortunate club of multiple miscarriages what testing did you do? We just started down the road with a RE to try and understand why I am having so many miscarriages. I have had two chemicals and now a 6 week miscarriage all within the past 10 months.
People have suggested that we do karyotype genetic screening to see if either myself or DH has a balanced translocation. From what I understand this is genetic and would have been present at birth. Could we have just gotten lucky with our other children? Any suggestions on RPL testing? For right now RE is just having me do generic blood testing, infectious disease testing and an HSG. Nothing for DH right now (he has already had a SA and the only low issue was morphology 1%). |
| We did karotype. I don't think there is anything they can do, but it gives you more info. I did the standard rpl bloodwork (cardiolipin antibodies, beta glycoprotein I antibody, and lupus anticoagulant). They can treat you if anything comes back positive. For any more rpl testing, I think you need to go to abbasi |

Here is an explanation of some of the tests

I have a balanced translocation.
It is possible that your existing children do not have a BT, or that they have the same BT as one of you. It is when a translocation is unbalanced that it typically results in miscarriage. If one of you has a BT, you may not realize it but it is possible that you had many chemicals while trying previously. It is also possible that you just got lucky. I think you might have posted on reddit the other day? If not, I would go there, huge community of people with experience in every scenario you laid out. Reddit infertility group. |

I agree that you should do a karotype. My DH is a carrier for a balanced translocation. We had no idea until we did a karotype. We went on to have three kids doing IVF PGD. Only one has the balanced translocation.
Interestingly - my SIL had two kids easily and then had miscarriages. She finally got pregnant with her third and did an amino due to her age and found out her baby had a balanced translocation. Her DH did a karotype and learned like my DH he is a balanced carrier. She doesn’t know if her other two kids are carriers but will have them tested when they are older. It’s an easy blood test and worth doing if anything to rule out this might be causing your miscarriages. Best of luck
