I’ve never had a problem with straw cups or thermoses, but I bought these from Costco
http://costcocouple.com/reduce-hydro-furry-friends-water-bottle/ I bought them last year but only use them maybe 3-4 times. I noticed at the park yesterday that the lid has mold underneath the plastic. I ran it in the dishwasher and it’s still there. How do you deal with mold? Do I need to pitch these? I’m considering returning to costco if they will still take it. |
A very diluted bleach soak once per week works. |
Mold on anything usually doesn't come off in the dishwasher. You need to bleach it. |
If I soak in bleach, will it take off mold that’s under the plastic part that isn’t removable? The mold is underneath... trapped between plastic and the metal cap.
I’ve never used bleach but have a concentrated Clorox bleach in the laundry area. Would this work or is there a specific one to use? Sorry I didn’t grow up with bleach so no idea how or when to use it. I tried to do a bleach wash on white towels and felt Ill for the next two days. |
I soak them in vinegar. |
I tried vinegar and dish soap. Is there anything that can fix the discolored part? I don’t feel comfortable still having my kid use something that looks like it has black mold. |
