I was supposed to see Tyga perform at a club a few miles from my home.

It was Friday, at a club in San Diego called “Omnia.”
Very popular club downtown.

I had to pay extra for admission, yet he never showed.
The club could not issue refunds since we technically paid a cover charge,
Not a concert ticket.

Pete Davidson + Nicki Minaj have done this recently.

What gives??
It is NEVER okay to leave your fans hanging.

Some hire sitters so they can come see you, others drive long distances.
Can’t they show some love for those that got them to the lucky place they are at????

Likely the club lied about the celebrities appearing. Or the club didn't meet their contractual obligations (e.g., pay the artists' fees in full ahead of time) and thus the artist does not show up. This happens pretty frequently with shady promoters.

It sound like you are dealing with a shady promoter that is strapped for cash. Frankly, I'd contact a lawyer and look into filing a class action suit on behalf of the concert goers.

Some actors are the biggest flakes of the world. You often have to be a head case just to go into that business. In particular, actors that live in Los Angeles-and its bizarre culture- are engrossed in the shallow entertainment business even more. They are a bunch of liars and inconsiderate people. They are nasty to each other and have a hard time with basic courtesy. I’ve interacted with enough actors to know there is no good reason to be star struck because many actors truly are uninteresting disingenuous people. I’ve always seen that, even as a 6 year old when my father traveled around the world with Sammy Davis jr.
