To follow up on previous threads, the Charter School Board voted this evening on their MANY applications. Schools authorized to begin operation in SY20-21 are:

Capital Village
Girls Global Academy
I Dream Academy
Social Justice School and
Sojourner Truth School (the Montessori Middle-High)

do we really need more charter schools??? how about just focus on replicating the ones that have a proven model, and providing them with preferential support, over random new models with annoying names.

Hillsdale “College” of Indoctrinated Rightwingers. I can’t believe Hillsdale “College” uses itself as a front for a DC thinktank.

Charter schools have a role, and I’m not totally opposed. But part of the charter school effort nationwide is a push by rightwingers to destroy the public school system. I don’t like that.

More enclaves to serve upper class people who don't want to mix with their neighbors isn't what DC needs. Their unwillingness to go anywhere without a high proportion of upper class families is telling. They say Ward 6 preferred, Ward 1 and 4 maybe, no to Ward 5 and a hard no to Wards 7 or 8. Why?
