Can someone explain to me the thing about the lab being closed for 2 weeks around Christmas? I thought they were open every day but I think I read something about them not starting cycles if you will need procedures during those two weeks (?).
I'm wondering b/c I should be starting a medicated IUI cycle around Dec. 5th give or take a few days, which would have me triggering around Dec. 16th (I think) so the IUI would be around Dec. 18th. Will they not start my next cycle because of the timing? (If so, I am going to FREAK OUT. I've posted before that I was overstimmed and cancelled in October, then got swine flu and cancelled in November, so if I am out again because of scheduling issues, I am NOT going to be very jolly in December!) |
| you would be better off asking your re or nurse honestly- they can advise to your specific cycle.. any posting hre is just guessing re your cycle... |
| I don't know when my cycle is going to start exactly. I was asking more if there was something like a specific cutoff date after which they try not to start new cycles until Jan. |

As far as I know, it's just IVF retrievals/transfers that are not done during the last 2 weeks (approx.) of December. They close the Rockville embryology lab for cleaning.
I fairly confident that they still do IUIs because it doesn't take a full lab to spin some sperm. |
| Thanks! |

It only impacts those doing IVF or FET's. If you are doing an IUI you should be just fine.

| If it's just IUI you're fine. I had mine on Dec 23rd. Had to go to rockville because the other offices were closed and didn't get my pick of my doctor but at least I could get it |
| But you can start you birth control pills during December, if that is part of your protocol, and time to go off of them so you can start stimming right when they are ready to open the lab. |
